This course starts your journey to become a pharmacist which is a profession based on science with a person-centred approach. Upon completion of the B.Sc. (Hons) in Pharm Sci and M. Pharm, you can apply for a licence to practice as a pharmacist. During the B.Sc. (Hons) in Pharm Sci programme you will have the opportunity to apply pharmaceutical concepts and skills acquired in class during the various placements conducted in different pharmaceutical related sectors, where you can experience real-life scenarios. You are encouraged to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility programme for the placement conducted in the fourth year, as we believe that having a multicultural and diverse learning experience, with better knowledge of how international Pharmacy Schools and pharmacies operate, and will provide you with a more holistic academic journey. You will have the opportunity to apply research skills through projects in areas related to pharmacy.

Communication and Academic Skills Programme

The communication and academic skills programme complements students’ main course of study. It introduces them to writing and presenting as situated within academic contexts sensitive to specific disciplines and develops their competences for future careers.

a pass in Pure Mathematics at Intermediate or Advanced Level.

During the first year of the Course, accepted applicants are also required to undergo an occupational health assessment, as detailed in the Occupational Health Protocol approved by the Board, so as to ascertain that they are fit for the duties related to their proposed studies. Students who do not fulfil this requirement may be barred from progressing with their studies. Failure to disclose information about a physical or mental health problem that could affect patient safety is considered to be a serious breach of the University Suitability to Practise Regulations, 2016.

Requirement for successful completion of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pharmaceutical Science: 240 credits.

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019 and by the Bye-Laws for the Degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pharmaceutical Science - B.Sc. (Hons) in Pharm. Sc. 鈥� under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

During the course, we will provide you with the knowledge to:

develop basic skills required to be able to approach development of skills required in pharmacy within the local and the EU legal framework governing the production, supply and use of medicines.
develop skills for the application of principles of chemistry and biological sciences to development, formulation and use of drugs.
apply principles, skills and knowledge of good quality in the development and distribution of medicines.
be able to safeguard patient safety.
develop skills in scientific report writing and to develop research skills.
develop a capacity for lifelong learning.

Being in possession of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pharmaceutical Science degree will allow you to register for the course leading to the degree of the Master of Pharmacy (vide Bye-laws for M. Pharm course) which in turn gives you access to practice the profession.
